The toast of TV stars

To celebrate the fifth year that Taittinger has been the official BAFTA Champagne, OLN has teamed up with the family-owned Champagne house to offer one winner a limited edition bottle of BAFTA-branded Champagne Taittinger Brut Reserve NV.

Produced each year from the first pressings of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay, this is the definitive cuvée of Champagne Taittinger.

It's only natural that the BAFTA television awards has a perfect reception, which is why BAFTA continues to use Champagne Taittinger for its official awards and events. The Sparkling Winemaker of the Year at the International Wine Challenge - the wine world's very own Best Director gong - Champagne Taittinger has produced special BAFTA bottles for these glittering occasions.

In February, Taittinger helped Forest Whitaker and Helen Mirren toast their success as the king and queen of the film awards, and the TV awards look set to be an equally regal occasion. The runaway favourite this year is the BBC's prime-time time-crime drama Life on Mars, with three nominations.

To get your hands on this collectable BAFTA bottle, answer the following question:

John Simm stars in the BBC's Life On Mars, but after who's 1970s hit song of the same name is the television series named?

Send your answer with your name, address and telephone number on a postcard, by May 21, to: Ian Palmer, R&R Teamwork, The Basement, 754 Fulham Road, London, SW6 5SH or email your entry to

The shops that stand out from the madding crowd

The judges met last week to sort out the winners in the independent categories of our 2018 Drinks Retailing Awards. The results are top secret until the awards dinner on February 6 but it’s giving nothing away to report that the overall standard of those that will be revealed in the shortlist of finalists in the January issue of DRN is higher than it’s ever been.
