Italian spa water balances minerals

01 June, 2007

Premium natural mineral water Suio has been added to Chartered Brands' portfolio.

Suio, according to senior brand value manager Jo Halliday,

is one of the few bottled waters on the market that contains no nitrates. It has a low sodium content and is naturally high in magnesium and calcium, which

makes it "one of the top mineral waters available to consumers in terms of its natural balance of good minerals", says Halliday .

Suio

comes from a spa

in a protected mountain area in central Italy.

Suio director Dr Steven Devine said: "We want people to start thinking about not just drinking healthily, but which waters they are choosing."

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
