Cheshire wine merchant Corks Out was voted Retailer of the Year at the Visit Chester & Cheshire Awards staged by the North West Development Agency.

The judges at the event - held at Chester Racecourse - said: "Corks Out demonstrated a real vision and desire to be the best in its field, with great attention to detail and the highest standards of customer service driven from the top."

Owner Ruth Yates - who has shops in Stockton Heath and Cheshire - said: "This award means a lot to Corks Out and also to the independent wine retail sector as it's not just about picking a product of a shelf, it's about service, knowledge of product, and passion and enthusiasm that, unfortunately, customers rarely get at larger retailers."
