Brown-Forman will be concentrating on environmental issues, underlining its sustainable winemaking at Fetzer and commitment to organics at Bonterra

by sponsoring the Big Chill music festival, RHS flower shows and events at Hampton Court and Tatton Park. Fetzer's £4.99 Pacific Bay range is being gradually withdrawn because it is not a profitable price point, while the Valley Oaks range is seeing some price hikes. In April it became the ninth wine company to join the Portman Group.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
