Moreno Wines has added wines from Ribera del Duero and Priorato to its Spanish range, as well as cava, and expanded its portfolio with Chilean Alvaro Espinoza, a red sparkling Pinot Noir from Penley Estate in Australia, and a Patagonian sparkler called Deseado. It has created a sales & marketing director role - taken by ex-PLB Alex Canneti - to head the sales team, and a new website is in the pipeline.

Talking terroir

When Bordeaux was in fashion, it seemed almost logical that we should fetishise winemakers. Here were people responsible for brilliant acts of blending, across large estates and multiple grape varieties, including superstars such as cabernet sauvignon and merlot. These days, fashion has moved on and pinot noir is ascendant. As a result, the star of the winemaker has fallen and we find ourselves following a new star in the sky: terroir.
