Peter Darbyshire has left Thierry's to join PLB as managing director this summer, replacing John Smith who is retiring after 24 years at the agency. Claire Summersby has replaced Pamela Dunn as marketing director, and Italy and Spain business development manager Alex Canneti has left to join Moreno. PLB has signed up Marlborough producer Winegrowers of Ara, and German co-operative Moselland, which has developed two brands from Germany. It is also working on a 50cl wine range. Chileno's top tier has been rebranded Chileno Gold Reserva , Napa Valley winery Folie à Deux has launched the tri-varietal Ménage à Trois range

and Bordeaux brand Cordier has launched mid-priced range Collection Privée.

Richard Hemming MW: beware inverse snobbery

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
