New Tribute cans roll out to Spars in south west areas

13 July, 2007

Cornish brewer St Austell has signed an exclusive deal to supply a newly-packaged 50cl can of Tribute ale to some 330 Spar stores in south west England.

The cans are recommended to retail at 4.99 for a four-pack . St Austell also sells 24-packs at its visitor centre and online at staustellbreweryshop.co.uk.

Head brewer Roger Ryman said of the new cans: "They are specially packaged under a nitrogen system which gives the beer a taste, texture and presentation very similar to a draught pint drawn up with a traditional hand pump."

Rob Clapham, senior category manager at Appleby Westward, which supplies Spar in the south west, said: "The quality of the beer is excellent .

"We have sent a sample of the can to all

our store managers so

they can appreciate the quality of the product in advance of it reaching the shelves. This is the first time we have undertaken such a wide sampling campaign, but we believe that the quality of Tribute in a can had to be tasted to be fully appreciated."
