German wine laws changed

German wine region Mosel-Saar-Ruwer is now known as Mosel.

The regional wine promotion board has been renamed Moselwein e.V.

According to regional winegrowers association president Adolf Schmitt, the move – which took place on Aug 1 – will enhance regional marketing efforts.

The designation Qualitätswein mit Prädikat – one of the terms describing degree of grape ripeness at the time of harvesting – has also been replaced by the term Prädikatswein.
