lThe Oxford Wine Company is listing Fairtrade wines for the first time. Los Robles Sauvignon Blanc 2006 and Carmenère 2005 are both now on sale at the store for £5.99. Last month, Ehrmann's introduced the first premium Fairtrade wine range to the UK. Soluna Malbec (rrp £8.99) and organic Malbec (rrp £9.99) will be launched at the Argentina tasting on Sep 19 and are targeted at independent wine merchants and organic specialists.

lStratford-upon-Avon wine merchant Vinology is holding its second Wine Workshop following the success of the first. The session, on Sept 11, will focus on the Rhône Valley and will be held in the shop's special tasting room. Classics such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape will be tasted alongside lesser-known wines such as Plan-de-Dieu and white Crozes-Hermitage.

lNoel Young Wines will be holding an online tasting in conjunction with Virtual Wine on Sept 1. Participants will be able to taste six wines selected from rugby-playing nations while watching and chatting to four experts via their PCs. Lifting the spirits

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”.
