David Jones heads up Waitrose BWS

Waitrose has appointed David Jones BWS boss following Mark Williamson's promotion to supply chain director.

Jones, who has spent the past two years as deputy partners' counsellor at the John Lewis Partnership, will also be responsible for grocery buying at the supermarket chain. He will be supported by Justin Howard-Sneyd MW, who will continue to manage the wine buying team, and Giles Fisher, who remains central buyer for beers and spirits.

Jones has worked at the J L P for 25 years and said he was "looking forward to building on the excellent reputation that we already have for our range ".

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”.
