07 September, 2007

A premium rice Shochu from Japan is coming to the UK.

Produced by the 140-year-old Akashi Sake Brewery, Tokiwa is an authentic Shochu that uses traditional Japanese processes and ingredients.

Kimio Yonezawa, president of the Akashi Sake Brewery, said: "Shochu is a product for connoisseurs which is well suited to the UK market, where authenticity, provenance and quality are key

Shochu - the national spirit of Japan - is either drunk mixed with hot water or neat over ice. Tokiwa

can also be used

as a base for contemporary cocktails.
