Strathmore gets behind festival

Strathmore Spring Water has been involved in its first sponsorship deal since its acquisition by Barr Soft Drinks.

As well as sponsoring the gala opening of the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the brand was the official water of the UK premiere of A Mighty Heart starring Angelina Jolie, and sponsor of the festival's short film awards.

Head of marketing Adrian Troy said: "This was the first significant investment we have made in sponsorship and it's a brilliant fit. The Edinburgh International Film Festival is everything Strathmore stands for: Scottish and aspirational with a bold, contemporary outlook."

A new ad campaign for Strathmore is currently being shown throughout Scotland as part of Barr Soft Drinks' £1 million investment in the brand.

Few things can bring communal pleasure so intimately as wine. Apart from a hot tub, perhaps. Sport can trigger mass jubilation, film gives us shared empathy, but wine has a nigh-unique ability to bestow conviviality among us through a shared bottle – which makes it especially galling that we spend so much time divided over it.
