Coan has launched a three-strong Biltong range in Original Beef Steak, Chilli Beef Steak and Pepper Beef Steak flavours. The air-dried meat snack is nutritious and lower in fat than other snack products on the market, according to Coan owner Colin Parker.

Paradiso Water has won its first national listing in the UK. Available in Aldi supermarkets, Paradiso originates from the springs of the Friulian vineyards in the Italian village of Paradiso. According to a company spokeswoman, it is lower in sodium and richer in magnesium than many leading water brands.

Lifting the spirits

I were to sum up alcohol sales over Christmas 2017 in one word, it would be “gin”. At Nielsen, we define the Christmas period as the 12 weeks to December 30 and in that time gin sales were £199.4 million, which means they increased by £55.4 million compared with Christmas 2016.
