Published:  19 September, 2007

Premium New Zealand wine producer, Winegrowers of Ara has employed a new sales and marketing director to boost the business worldwide.

Former Matua Valley Wines global strategic supply manager, Simon Beck, will take on the newly created role to help sell the Marlborough producer’s brands Resolute and Composite, which is distributed in the UK by PLB Wines.

Winegrowers of Ara general manager, Dr Damian Martin said: “Having been involved in marketing and selling a range of sub brands under the Matua banner, Simon has the ideal credentials to grow our Ara origin brand portfolio in a competitive global marketplace.

"His proven ability to cultivate relationships, manage different distributor approaches and understand the customer will be invaluable in building our international presence.”

Winegrowers of Ara is a relative newcomer to the UK market, having exhibited at the London International Wine and Spirit Fair for the first time in May of this year.

The company plans to double its number of plantings within the next three to four years to meet growing demand for Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
